Frequently Asked Questions
1. How many childminders are in your daycare?
The recommendation is one (1) childminder per four (4) children under the age of three (3).
We can take up to twelve (12) children in LTI-Pukinmäki and there will be three (3) childminders present.
There will be four (4) childminders present for the fifteen (15) children in LTI-Malmi.
2. Does my child need previous exposure to the English language?
Your child does not need to know English before enrolling to us. Children learn and adapt really quickly, especially when there is consistency - daycare language is English.
3. Do you speak/ teach Finnish to the children?
We only speak English in the daycare, so as not to confuse the children. When necessary, we translate English to Finnish and back to English if the child is having difficulty understanding us.
We go to Pukinmäki library for story times, especially scheduled for LTI, at least once a month. The librarian reads two (2) English story books and one (1) Finnish story book to the children.
4. Do you provide vegan/vegetarian option for lunch?
We make home cooked meals daily and we are not capable of making different meals for different children. We request parents to prepare their child's lunch, if the child has a special diet. We send weekly menus to the parents, which they can use as a guide on what food to prepare for their child. Nonetheless, we do offer vegan lunch once a week.
Private daycare allowance can be granted to families with a child under school age.
